In our fifth week of CBL, we have been putting our finishing touches on our poster, interactive element and presenting. As our group was brainstorming ideas for an interactive element, we came up with an idea to do a Kahoot with the audience! We came up with 5 questions about our problem and made the Kahoot. While presenting we are excited and ready to try our Kahoot with the audience, adding some fun to the presentation! Along with our kahoot we have a second interactive element which is our interactive spreadsheet. For our interviews we had a spreadsheet which had formulas to calculate people’s yearly consumption of beef and how much water that wasted. We are going to interview a volunteer to show them the formula we used to calculate peoples yearly water wastage. When working on our practice run-throughs we focused on the outline that Lucas made. We were assigned subjects to speak about when we are doing the forum. We worked in a order so when the day comes we would be ready to present. After this preparation, we took it to the forum. At the CBL forum we talked to several people who came over to us and told them about our problem and solution. We also used our interactive spreadsheet and our kahoot to make the experience more engaging.

In our fourth week of CBL our group has been working hard to finish up our poster. We wrote our problem, solution, and next steps paraphrases and finished up our charts. We had lots of debate on what color to use but finally decided. Now our poster is all finished and ready to be presented. After last week we had interviewed 16 kids from Windward. This week we decided to send a follow up survey to quantify our data and see if anybody actually changed their data. When we get their data, we can see if they took our information to heart and are actually going to change their diet. We made 2 charts listing all the data that we have placed on our poster. One of charts showed how much water certain meats use and a percentage with a gallon amount and the other chart showed how much the people we have interviewed have ate in a year. The charts made it very simple to process all the information in order to find out what you can do to make a difference.
On Tuesday Lucas contacted his French teacher so we could interview some students, on Wednesday we went to their class and interviewed all of them. Now we have data from interviews of 16 kids. We interviewed them about their favorite meats and how much they eat every week. Then finally we asked them how much water they think it takes for 1 pound of beef and most of them were way off. When we told them the correct answer they were all amazed. After we finished gathering our student interviews into a google spreadsheet, we started to come up with a formula on how to calculate how much beef students eat per year. With some struggles, and help from Geraldine, we sort of got the formula to work, that calculated how many pounds of beef each person consumed in a year. This week we have worked on a poster that tells what we have been doing. We were given three headings. Are headings were problem, solution, and next steps. For problem we talked about the water that the beef uses to be produced and how we need to cut down to not head into a future drought again. For solution we talked about ideas on cutting down portion sizes at restaurants. For next steps we talked about how we would be interviewing people in Jonah's area and getting results.
