This week our group has started our weekly vlogs and blogs. Each week every person in the group makes a vlog talking about what our group has accomplished in that week, and how our group is working together. This is one way to track our progress and make sure our group is running smoothly together. Another thing our group is doing weekly is writing a blog. Each of us writes a piece of the blog on what we were doing that week. Then after it is ready to publish we put it on a website called weebly for anyone to see. There we can share our ideas to everyone! We asked a various selection of questions to see how much people eat which would lead to the shocking answer. We asked what is your favorite meat, what is your favorite meat, how much beef (pounds) do you think you eat every month, and how much water do you think beef takes per pound to produce? After asking these questions we had people thinking and we got the information we needed to give them there surprising result. We told people it took 1800 gallons of water to preserve beef. The feedback to that fact was shocking due to people thinking it would only take 2 gallons of water. After we came up with our questions we decided to interview a couple fellow students to test it. We asked Noah Malcolm and Henry the questions we had to see their reaction. They were really surprised about our statistic that 1 pound of beef takes 1,800 gallons of water. I think that when we interview people in our community they will be equally surprised. Overall we worked really well together and we can’t wait for Sunday where we are actually going to interview people in Jonah’s community.

The first week of the CBL project has been a roller coaster ride. In one week we have changed our subject from transportation to water wasting, and we came up with a very specific and relevant problem. The problem we came up with is that we are wasting too much water on agriculture, especially on beef. When you see a commercial saying to take shorter showers, they are wrong, showers aren't a big waste of water. One pound of beef is the same amount of 6 months of showers. On top of that we consume a lot of beef in the US. We need to stop eating as much beef. We brainstormed many ways to cut down on how much beef we eat, because Americans eat close to the most beef in the world. First we looked at some ideas to change the diets of citizens in the U.S. We came up with two ways that people could change their diet. First we came up with portion control where we start to get rid of 12oz stakes that have no need in a market or restaurant. Then we came up with fear and how people can be scared at the fact of that a pound of beef is 1,800 gallons of water. The way we decided to actually get people to follow through with our solution is to survey people. We will talk to neighbors and people in our community to see how much beef they eat, then educate them on how much water it wastes, then we would link them to sources of alternative recipes, and last, we would survey them a week later to check in if people actually changed the way they ate. Overall we were able to come up with a solution and we just need to execute in now in real life.
